Project Statement
South Gate Heritage Workstation locates in the south side of the Ancient City of BeiTing, Jimsar County, XinJiang. This
project was designed in 2013, built the same year in July. The functional room of the workstation has been designed to
hide among the east farmland of a north-south trunk road, making full use of the natural altitude difference of the site. By controlling the feeling at different
heights of space, the building has been designed to show ruins step-by-step in front of visitors. The exterior wall is made of local stone with regional craft masonry which well integrated into
the color and texture of the site. The uplifted earth mound offers visitors a new perspective view, creating a fresh way
to experience the buildings and sites.
