Xuzhou Broadcasting and Television Center locates in new district of Xuzhou City. The building is opposite to the News Center of Xuzhou Daily in the north, faces the new built Xuzhou Administration Center with each other across the lake, connects the landscape axis of the new district in the east, and sees the Dalong Lake across residential community in the west.
The design is inspired from Xuzhou’s history and culture, focusing on the surrounding urban space, and beginning from the features of broadcasting & media buildings, which is the key of our research. As the main form of public media in information era, broadcasting and television request more audiences’ participation in programs, and represents itself more open and public. On the other hand, it also needs to keep relatively independent, because of its functional requirements.
The internal route of the broadcasting and television building is complex. Therefore, arranging a variety of route lines reasonably and avoiding the crowds getting mixed, interfering with each other are focuses on in the design. The design of atrium and outdoor courtyard have played effect on improving the micro-environment of offices and energy saving. And the green roofs have regulated the indoor micro-environment. The overall shape of the building is like a huge sculpture, which is generous and calm and fits the historical and cultural character of Xuzhou. The delicate texture of the black uranium glass surface, as well as the construction details of the outside casement windows, show the given fine quality of modern technology. The reflections on the smooth wall change with the environment, flow with the time, and have shown the character of real-time information transmission in media industry.
